Meet the Founders

Built by OTs who get it.

Miles and Kim are practicing occupational therapists who figured out how to make this exam way less painful - and then built the courses they wished had existed.

Our Story

We've Been Exactly Where You Are

The Late Nights

Between the two of us, we've lived every version of this experience.

The Overwhelm

Resources that dump everything on you and leave you to figure out the rest.

The Frustration

Working hard and still not feeling ready for the exam.

That's why we built 450 Formula - not to add another resource to the pile, but to build the thing we both wished had existed. A clear, focused, no-fluff system that tells you exactly what to learn, exactly what to skip, and gets you to that passing score.

Kim brings the depth. Miles brings the "okay but what do we actually need to know for the exam." Between the two of us, we landed on the perfect system - rigorous enough to actually prepare you, simple enough that you'll remember it when it counts.

Superpower: Simplicity

What happens when you pit a lifelong procrastinator against the biggest test of his life? Trouble.

Miles is a graduate of the MOT program at the University of Utah, and when he was studying for the NBCOT he noticed something was missing. There was no resource for the moments when traditional studying just wasn't happening, the drive to the gym, the commute, the days when staring at another screen felt impossible. So he built one. The OT Exam Prepper podcast started as a solution to his own problem, and it turned into something students across the country rely on to get through this exam.

His path to OT ran through advertising and tech support before landing in healthcare, and that background shows. Miles thinks differently about how people learn. He understands that how we learn is just as important as what we learn, and that a student who grasps the big picture retains ten times more than one who's just grinding through a thousand pages of bullet points.

That's the energy behind everything he brings to 450 Formula. His superpower is simplicity, taking a concept that feels impossibly dense and finding the one angle that makes it click, usually with enough humor that you forget you're studying.

He'll make you laugh while you're learning. You won't realize how much you retained until you're in that exam room and the answer just appears.

Superpower: Depth & Precision

Kim knows this exam like the back of her hand and that didn't happen by accident.

After failing her first attempt at the NBCOT exam, Kim didn't just study harder. She went on a mission to find the missing piece. What was it that the existing resources weren't giving students? Why were hardworking, intelligent people still walking out of that exam without a passing score?

That question drove over a decade of tutoring, content creation, and obsessive deep-diving into every corner of this exam. Ten years of sitting across from struggling students, figuring out exactly where the gaps were, and building better ways to fill them with her tutoring business The Missing Piece OT. The result is a depth of knowledge about the NBCOT that is genuinely rare - the kind that only comes from failing, rebuilding, and dedicating years to getting it right.

Kim brings that depth to every single lecture in 450 Formula. She knows what students who've tried everything else are missing and is the mastermind that ensures 450 Formula is grounded on exactly what you need to know, straight from the primary sources. She cares whether you pass, not just because it's her job, but because she's been exactly where you are.
